Trail overview - a walk through history and heritage
The adventure kicks off at Fujairah Adventure Center, where hikers will check in, receive event kit, and meals for the day. The first leg of the hike leads to Wadi Awsaq, a spectacular valley that narrows as you approach Jebel Yibir. Along this ancient route, once traveled by villagers, participants will be greeted with awe-inspiring views of boulders, caves, and steep climbs -culminating at the Jebel Yibir base, the highest point of the day. Descending from Jebel Yibir, you’ll journey to the culturally rich Wadi Al Sheria. This area is home to ancient petroglyphs that offer glimpses into the region’s past, from human figures and horse-rider motifs to intricate sun crosses tied to Bronze Age religions. The Ghar Khail checkpoint marks a highlight of the route, allowing participants a moment to marvel at these unique rock carvings before continuing back through Wadi Al Sheria.
Nature and wildlife
Tawiyeen’s landscape is a mix of arid beauty and green oases, especially lush after seasonal rains. Here, hikers might catch sight of Arabian oryx, mountain gazelles, or even falcons and eagles soaring above.
