TRANSFER
If you want to transfer your registration to another participant or transfer to another event, please read below and follow the rules.
PARTICIPANT TRANSFER
- Transferring event participation to another person is permitted for individual and team registrations.
- Once the registration is transferred, the new participant forfeits their eligibility for the right to:
- Participant re-transfer
- Event Transfer
- A full or partial refund
- Deferring
- For participant transfer, there is an extra fee of $ 35 USD (+ 7% Active.com Registration platform fee) which will be paid by the new participant, not the participant who originally paid the registration fee
- Participant transfer is permitted up to 15 days before the start of the event. Check deadlines HERE.
EVENT TRANSFER
- Transfers are only permitted to other events in the same event country organization and during the same calendar year.
- Once the event transfer has been redeemed, the participant forfeits their eligibility for the right to:
- Participant re-transfer
- Event re-transfer
- A full or partial refund
- Deferring
- Transfers to other countries are NOT permitted.
- For an event transfer there is an extra fee of $35 USD (+ 7% Active.com Registration platform fee)
- If a participant is transferring from a higher-priced event to a lower-priced event, the participant will not be refunded the price difference
- If a participant is transferring from a lower-priced event into a higher-priced event, the participant will be required to pay the difference in addition to an extra fee of $35 USD (+ 7% Active.com Registration platform fee)
- A transfer into sold-out events is not permitted
- The transfer option is only available for individual entries and is NOT valid for promo and group entries
- Participants can transfer out of an event up to 45 days prior to the start of the event (the event the participant initially registered for). Check deadlines HERE.
TRANSFER PROCESS
Please follow the next steps if you want to transfer into another event:
- Fill out the event transfer or the person transfer form located at the end of this page or here
- Once you submit the form you will receive a confirmation email from Active
- Please check your junk folder as well. If you haven’t received your a confirmation email, please complete the form again or contact uae@highlanderadventure.com
- Your request will be processed within 5 business days; you will receive a separate email from Active containing a personalized registration link for the new event
- Once you redeem the invitation, you will receive one last confirmation email from Active
WITHDRAWAL
If you want to withdraw your registration, please read below and follow the rules listed.
WITHDRAWAL FROM THE EVENT
If you need to withdraw from the event, please note that you must submit the request before the deadline, as follows:
- Up to 45 days before the event for a 70% refund of the entry fee
- Withdrawal within 45 days of the event is nonrefundable (medical issues are not excluded)

Fees will be refunded to the Credit Card used for the registration. If the credit card has expired since registration, please choose the bank transfer refund.
Please note that a credit card refund can take up to 3-5 days, and up to 1-2 weeks for a bank transfer.
The withdrawal option with the refund is only available for individual entries, and is NOT valid for promo and group entries.
WITHDRAWAL PROCESS
To withdrawal from the event, please follow these steps:
- Fill out the withdrawal form located at the end of this page, or here
- Once you submit the form you will receive a confirmation email from Active
- Please check your junk folder as well. If you haven’t received a confirmation email, please complete out the form again or contact uae@highlanderadventure.com
- Your request will be processed within 5 business days, and you will receive a separate email from the local event team once the refund has been initiated
- You will receive another email from Active with a cancellation confirmation
DEFERRAL
To defer your registration, please read the following rules:
DEFERRAL OPTION
- Deferrals are only permitted for events in the same event country organization in the next calendar year
- Option to defer registration to next year is permitted for individual registrations and group registrations (and only if the entire group will defer)
- Once a deferral has been requested, the participant forfeits their eligibility for the right to:
- Participant transfer
- Event transfer
- A full or partial refund
- Re-deferring
- The deferral option is permitted up to 45 days before the start of the event. Check deadlines HERE.
DEFERRAL PROCESS
Please follow the next steps if you want to defer from the event:
- Fill out the deferral form located at the end of this page or here
- Once you submit the form, you will receive a confirmation email from Active
- Please check your junk folder as well. If you haven’t received a confirmation email, please complete the form again or contact uae@highlanderadventure.com
- Your request will be processed within 5 business days, and you will receive a separate email from the local event team once the deferral is initiated. You will receive a new link for registration once registrations for the next year are open
- You will receive another email from Active with a deferral confirmation
PAYMENT OPTION PLAN
If you wish to register with a Payment option plan, please read the following rules:
PAYMENT OPTION PLAN RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Transfer to other events in the same country organization will be permitted once all three payments are received
- Withdrawal option: the withdrawal rules apply only if all three payments are received (70% refund up to 45 days before the start of the event)
- A Payment Option Plan is available only up to 90 days before the event date
- A Payment Option Plan is available only for HIGHLANDER Hercules and HIGHLANDER Pegasus events
- A Payment Option Plan is available only for individual entries
- A Payment Option Plan is NOT available for Gift Card payment
PAYMENT OPTION PLAN PROCESS
- This option will be available for you to choose during the registration process in the payment section
- After registering, log into your Active profile - My Events to: view current payment plans, update your credit card, or pay the remaining balance
EVENT CANCELLATION
- If the Event producer defers or cancels the event before the start of the event for reasons beyond the control of Event Producer (acts of God and the elements, including without limitation, wind, rough water, rain, hail, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, acts of terrorism, fire, threatened or actual strike, labor difficulty, work stoppage, insurrection, war, public disaster, flood, unavoidable casualty, race course conditions, or any other cause beyond the control of the Event Producer) participants' registration is deferred to a new date of the same event and format.
- If the Event producer defers, changes, or cancels the event before the start of the event for reasons within the control of the Event Producer (other causes not mentioned above) participants are eligible to receive a full refund (excluding 7% of Active.com Registration platform fee)
BY REGISTERING PARTICIPANTS UNDERSTAND AND CONFIRM:
- All the Terms of Service written above.
- Event Producer reserves the right, in its sole and complete discretion, to deny entry, revoke the entry application of any applicant at any time, and/or to disqualify any individual from the Event. Applicant expressly waives any claim for damages arising from the denial or revocation of an entry application exceeding the amount of the entry fee.
- In no event may participant (or anyone else on their behalf) without the prior written consent of Event Producer, Avantura života d.o.o., its assignees, or its designees: (a) use any intellectual property of Event Producer, Avantura života d.o.o. and/or its affiliates, including, but not limited to, the HIGHLANDER marks and names (COLLECTIVELY IPs) and/or any words or marks that refer to, or are suggestive of, or confusingly similar to, the Event, any Event logo, Event name, Event location, Event date, or Event distance (collectively, “Event IP”), or (b) sell, market, distribute, or produce any products, events, merchandise, websites, or services that are Event-branded, or branded or marked using (i) any Event logo, (ii) any Event name, (iii) any Event IP, or (iv) or any IP (including without limitation the word “HIGHLANDER” or any foreign translation thereof as a prefix for, or component of, any event, trade name, trademark, organization name, club name, or brand of any kind, in each case in any way related to training, coaching, or any hiking or backpacking sports).
- This Terms of Service are subject to application of the Croatian law and shall be interpreted in accordance with the provisions of the Croatian law, excluding the application of United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (Vienna, 1980) (CISG) and application of the provisions of the conflict of laws in accordance with the private international law. All disputes arising from this Agreement, including disputes pertaining to the issues of lawful creation, breach or termination of this Agreement, as well as legal consequences arising thereof, shall be instructed to resolve the matter through conciliation in accordance with the Rules of Conciliation of the Croatian Chamber of Economy in force. In case these disputes are not resolved through conciliation within 30 (thirty) days from the day of submitting the motion to initiate conciliation procedure or within a different deadline agreed to by the parties, these disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration of the Permanent Arbitration Court of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (Zagreb Rules). For disputes whose value amounts up to (including) EUR 500,000.00 (in writing: five hundred thousand euros), the number of arbitrators shall be one. For disputes whose value is greater than EUR 500,000.00 (in writing: five hundred thousand euros), the number of arbitrators shall be three. The applicable law shall be the law of the Republic of Croatia.
- The language of the arbitration proceeding shall be Croatian. The place of arbitration shall be Zagreb, the Republic of Croatia. The person authorized for appointment shall be the President of the Permanent Arbitration Court of the Croatian Chamber of Economy.
- Participants acknowledge and confirm their liability for compensation for any damage to others’ property and/or material and/or non-material damage caused by injury or death of third persons (including, but not limited to other Event participants, employees/representatives of the Released Parties and similar) that may result from their actions and/or inaction.

What do I receive when I complete HIGHLANDER?
If you complete any distance of HIGHLANDER successfully, you will receive a unique experience to remember every time you look up in the sky, lifetime friends, a hard-earned HIGHLANDER Title, Pin, Patch, and Certificate.

What is the cutoff time?
This is a backpacking adventure, not a race.
Checkpoints are open every day from 6AM to 7PM (in the periods specified for individual checkpoints). Applies for both formats HIGHLANDER Pegasus & HIGHLANDER Orion

Will HIGHLANDER take place in the event of bad/inclement weather?
Yes.
REGISTRATIONS - CHECK-IN - START

How do I register?
To register for the event, complete the registration form on the event website and submit using the REGISTER NOW button.
Payments are made online only using a debit or credit card.

How can I register as a Team?
You can register as a team using Team Registration for a group of 2, 3, or 4 participants.
- We offer special rates for group registrations.
- Choose a member of your team that will make the purchase of the whole group. Congratulations, you are now a Team Captain. During the purchase, you are asked to name the team and make a password.
- You share the name and the password with the other 2,3 or 4 members in your team, that register as Team Members.
- Team Members register with a price of $0 but need Team's name and password in order to register. All members should be registered before registration closes, otherwise system will not allow. No refund for missing out on registering part of your team.
- The group registration is limited to a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 4 participants. Choose your group category based on your group number.

Can someone else register for me?
No, all participants must come to the Check-in in person during the Check-in open hours and personally sign the event waiver.

Is there a minimum age to participate?
Yes, participants must be 18 years old on the event day.

I have not received the confirmation e-mail – where can I find it?
The confirmation email is automatically sent after submitting the payment. Check your inbox and spam folders, and if confirmation is not found, please contact uae@highlanderadventure.com.

How do I change my personal details (address, e-mail…)?
If this is your first time registering for an event on the Active.com platform, you will create an Active profile. Here you will have access to all registered events, and you can edit some of your personal details.
- Log in to https://myevents.active.com.
- Scroll through the list of registered events
- Choose “Edit Registration Information”
- Make changes to custom questions etc.
- Save changes

What is the check-in procedure?
All participants must register in person at the event prior to the start to collect the Participant's Kit.
We do not send out in the post the Participant's Kit.
You will receive an email with all the information one week before the event.

Will you be providing transportation to the Check-in and/or Start?
Carpark will be arranged at the bottom of Jebel Jais. Shuttle buses will be arranged to transport participants from the car park towards the start area at Wadi Ghalilah Dam for HIGHLANDER Pegasus and to the Observation Deck at the top of Jebel Jais for HIGHLANDER Orion. Both HIGHLANDER formats will end at the finish point which is close to the car park.
Alternatively, participants can take a taxi straight to the start area. At the finish area, there will be an option for a taxi return ride. All taxi fees are to be borne by participants.
Should there be any changes in logistics, registered participants will be notified by email.
*Those who booked with our partner hotels, transportation from hotel on first day & return on last day is provided. You will need to inform your hotel about optioning for this service upon check in.

I will be staying in Ras Al Khaimah city after the event. Will HIGHLANDER provide transportation to my next destination after the event?
No. The Organizer will only provide transportation to the HIGHLANDER Check-in and Start position. Any other transportation arrangements are your responsibility.
WHAT TO BRING

What food is provided?
It depends on you and your body. For each participant, the Organizer will provide camping food, distributed at camps or check points. There is a specific field in the registration form that includes diet preferences. A vegetarian option will be available at all checkpoints. Vegan and gluten-free options, however, will not be available.
We all have unique eating habits and feel full at different rates so if you think you need additional food / have a special diet please bring it with you.

Can I bring my dog?
At the moment dogs are not allowed on the HIGHLANDER events due to the challenging in terrain.

Can I bring my drone?
We are aware some of you might want to capture your Adventure of a Lifetime by using a drone, however, we have to point out that drones are, unfortunately, not allowed.

What type of clothing should I pack?
February is considered the “winter” season in the UAE. Though it is known to be sunny and cool temperatures, rain clouds can form suddenly. In Ras Al-Khaimah it's usually breezy, fresh during the day, and cold at night between 15c to 20c degrees, especially at the highest camp. Expect fog and cold in the morning and up to 24 - 28°C during the day. During the day it will be like a European summer day while at night it will get cold. Temperature can drop 10 degrees Celsius.
Bring well-made and durable all-weather hiking clothing suitable for layering.
To be safe, we recommend you prepare for all types of weather as well as you can.
THE ROUTE

I have never hiked, but I feel physically ready. Can I register?
Of course! For this challenge, fitness is primary. Hiking experience is secondary.
HIGHLANDER Pegasus is not only for professional hikers or trekkers. It welcomes nature lovers hungry for activity and adventure. HIGHLANDER Pegasus trail is safe however it is challenging in several parts due to steep elevation gain. Though a minimum of hiking experience is required, a very good physical fitness is required to push through long-distance hiking while carrying heavy backpacks. It is highly advised to train using a heavy backpack so you build up your endurance and overall fitness. We suggest starting a training regimen in the months leading to the event to be more comfortable and confident.
HIGHLANDER Orion is less challenging than HIGHLANDER Pegasus as it does not include the first day with steep elevation, but do not take this category lightly. It still includes long-distance hiking with a variation of uphill and downhill carrying a heavy backpack specially on the first day. Training month leading to the event is key to building your fitness so you can take on this challenge with more comfort and confidence.
Ask yourself this question: Can I walk 25km or 40km on a main street carrying at least 15kg on my back? If you have doubts, then you should start training today. Hiking the same in mountain terrain will be much more challenging.
Don't underestimate the challenge. Be prepared, and start training.

How can I best prepare for HIGHLANDER Ras Al Khaimah?
All participants should be physically prepared for tackling a 55 km or a 30km hike smoothly. We recommend some training in the months leading to HIGHLANDER Ras Al Khaimah to prepare for the adventure.
Above all, you must be able to carry a heavy backpack (practice with a 5-7 kg and increase gradually to 15-17 kg). Make sure you can walk in your hiking shoes and break them in prior to the event.
*Backpack weight on average is between 12 to 18kg depending on how lightweight your gear is.
*The organizer will have training programs with several gyms across UAE that will help get you ready for those who require assistance in training. More info will be shared soon.

Is there cellular service on the course?
In general, yes. There are however areas not covered by cellular service, particularly Sal Haqeel Camp (Camp 2 for HIGHLANDER Pegasus /Camp 1 for HIGHLANDER Orion)

How difficult is it to stay on the trail?
Most hiking trails in the Jais Mountain region are marked very well.
It is important to adhere to markers and official hiking trails. CHECKPOINTS with trained staff are very distant apart.
Always keep a map in hand and follow the signposts to stay on course and arrive safely at your destination.
The organizer will provide a GPS file of the route.

Do I have to stop at each checkpoint?
The trail has 3 checkpoints for HIGHLANDER Pegasus and 2 checkpoints for HIGHLANDER Orion. You have to collect all checkpoint stamps.
Checkpoints are open at specific times. Staff will stamp your HIGHLANDER ID. Outside staff working hours (or similar), you will stamp your own ID.

Do I have to set up my tent close to checkpoints?
We have dedicated places for camping. These are marked on the map.

Will you be designating sleeping areas?
Designated tent spots sites are on the Camp Checkpoints for each HIGHLANDER format or in close vicinity, and you are required to camp on these sites.

Can I sleep in mountain lodges or huts?
No. Sleeping is allowed only in tents and sleeping bags that are required HIGHLANDER gear for all participants. Mountain lodges and huts are not available across this trail.
Sleeping in a tent is a special experience and one of the best parts of a true hiking adventure.

Are hiking poles a good idea?
A great idea! It has been shown that using hiking poles will reduce the accumulated stress on the feet, legs, knees, and back by sharing the load more evenly across the whole body. This is especially true when carrying a heavy pack on your back.

What if I have gear trouble?
Checkpoint staff is trained for such cases. Feel free to consult them with any gear malfunction or similar issues.

Can I share my gear with other participants?
Yes. Participants sharing equipment must inform the organizing staff at the Check-in. Gear that can be shared includes the required tents, iso butane/alcohol stoves, compasses, and first aid kits. Participants sharing the required gear must cross the finish line within a time difference of no more than 30 minutes from the first to the last group member.
