LEARN ABOUT HIGHLANDER FORMATS
Highlander Hercules
HIGHLANDER Hercules got its name after the Roman mythological hero adapted from the Greek hero Heracles. It is also the longest HIGHLANDER route that spans over 5 days.
I feel Slovenia HIGHLANDER Hercules Julian Alps is 100 km and five days long long-distance hiking experience. Hercules starts in Bohinj (Ribčev laz), a glacial valley embraced by the Julian Alps. Lake Bohinj lies in the heart of the Triglav National Park and is the largest Slovenian natural lake, nested at the foot of unspoiled mountains. We will head towards hidden beauty; Baška grapa and Podbrdo. From starting in the alpine climate, we will slowly enter the sub-mediterranean climate, and you will feel the difference. We will pass the lively town of Tolmin, visit the picturesque village of Livek and pass the Napoleon bridge to finish in Kobarid. But it is not just about hiking, there is something more for each of you. We will be able to learn about geology and history by passing open-air museums with trenches, where Soča battle (one of the biggest battlefields in 1st WW) was held, there will be yoga and meditation classes and interesting storytelling in the evenings. After crossing the finish line, another adventure is waiting for you; refresh yourself in the emerald Soča river, which only reaches 12 degrees during summer. But the adventure still doesn’t stop there; you can return to Bohinj by train through a railway tunnel excavated under the mountain chain you just climbed.
