  • The final day is a long one which incorporates an ascent of Sticks pass and then finishes by following the Ullswater Way back into Pooley Bridge.

HighlanderPegasus

HighlanderOrion

  • Over two unforgettable days, you’ll take on 43km with 1552m of ascent. The journey begins with a relatively easy 19.3km on the first day, setting the stage for the more demanding trek ahead. Your adventure kicks off in the stunning Borrowdale Valley, where you’ll join fellow HIGHLANDERs to start the journey of a lifetime.
  • The morning will take you along the scenic Cumbria Way and the River Derwent, leading to the serene shores of Derwent Water. Along the way, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the Lake District. As the day winds down, you’ll arrive at Low Bridge End Farm - a picturesque and secluded camping spot nestled along St John Beck, exclusively reserved for Highlanders. Enjoy a well-earned evening of entertainment before resting up for the challenge ahead.
  • Day two is where the real test begins: the ascent of Sticks Pass. Take it at your own pace, and remember to pack light for an easier climb. Once you conquer this section, the trail leads along the edges of Glencoyne Valley, offering spectacular mountain views before descending into the Aira Force area for a relaxing lunch break.
  • From there, the final stretch is a mix of forestry trails and farmer’s paths, providing a gentle end to your adventure. As you head toward Ullswater, soak in the awe-inspiring landscapes and reflect on the incredible journey you’ve completed.

  • Lyra is our one-day format. You get to experience the spirit of HIGHLANDER without carrying all the heavy camping equipment, but even with lighter packs than the other participants, this is still a tough day out.
  • You’ll ascent Sticks Pass and then traverse the single track around the Glencoyne valley. From here, you can stop for lunch at Aira Force waterfall and then follow the famous Ullswater Way to the finish in Pooley Bridge. It’s 24km of stunning mountainous terrain, and in one day, you will climb more than 1000m, that's more ascent than if you were climbing the highest mountain in the Lake District, Scafell Pike.
  • The day promises not just a physical feat, but also a mental and emotional journey, as you navigate the diverse terrains of the Lake District.
